Możliwości zastosowania europejskiego wskaźnika ichtiologicznego (EFI+) do oceny stanu ekologicznego rzek Polski
Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2013, Vol 26, Issue
Abstract
The European Fish Index EFI+ is a multimetric index to be applied at the continental scale. It consists of two pairs of metrics developed separately for Salmonid and Cyprinid river zones, producing two specific indices. The metrics for the Salmonid index are: density of species intolerant to oxygen depletion and to habitat degradation, while the metrics for the Cyprinid index are: number of species that prefer to spawn in running waters and density of lithophilic species. The four metrics were used in the European Intercalibration process to validate national methods of the EU members. In this paper we present the applicability and limitations of the EFI+ index in Poland. The ecoregion and watershed classification problems are examined. The need to exclude non native species considered by metrics is stressed. Possible options and some technical problems in software use are also presented.

Ichtiofauna systemu rzeki Brok
Fish distribution and abundance were investigated in the Brok River system (72.9 km long, right side tributary of the Bug River) in 2010. At 17 sampling sites a total of 6314 individuals representing 24 lamprey and fish...
Biomonitoring a prawdziwa różnorodność rzędu pierwszego
Diversity measures are important nonparametric tools of community study in biomonitoring research, which is gaining importance in freshwater fish assessment for angling purposes. Yet the full potential of the measures ha...
