MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS IN THE PROCESS OF AVIATION ENGLISH STUDY

Abstract
Abstract. In the article the author covers the specific possibilities of multimedia presentation usage in the process of Aviation English study by future aviation specialists, shares the experience of multimedia presentation usage of Aviation English study by the students of the Flight Academy. The multimedia presentation is defined as a set of texts, images, sound, video, animation and other means of information introduction that plays a part of the demonstrative representation of the specific material and is given through a computer. The author presents the tasks which are solved when using multimedia presentations: the development of language competence, speech competence, speech activity (especially listening and speaking competence); the introduction of new vocabulary with terminology images through audio and video recordings; the combination of the text for listening and the simultaneous presentation of the new terminology; pair work in dialogue and polilogue arrangement; group work when using the incident method; presentation of the own work results. The author shows the functions which the multimedia presentation plays in the process of Aviation English study: informative; educational; evaluative and reflexive; organizing. The multimedia presentation usage promotes the achievements of the specific aims of Aviation English study by future aviation specialists: students’ vocabulary extension; verbal communication development; readiness for listening of different speech peculiarities against speakers’ nationalities, emotional and resolute field, intelligence, pilot and air traffic controller’s proficiency. The effective multimedia presentation usage in Aviation English study is achieved through adherences to the following psychological and pedagogical specifications: complex and regular use; dialogical trend of the use; coordination of image and logic components, the emotional and the reasonable in the process of working out the content of a multimedia presentation and its introducing at the class. It is essential to use different methods of work with multimedia presentations to reach the aim at issue.
