MUSICAL ART AS MEANS OF REALIZATION OF THE INTERCULTURAL APPROACH IN THE PROCESS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING

Abstract
The article deals with the intercultural approach to foreign languages learning focused on understanding the cultural achievements of another country, tolerance forming towards them, and the readiness to interact in the diversity of cultures. The intercultural approach is an important prerequisite for solving the problem of understanding: understanding of oneself and others, the relationship between man and society, understanding of universal values, and differences between peoples and their cultures. It has much in common with the sociocultural approach. They are based on studying of the culture of the country which language is learned. However, only an intercultural approach points to the interaction between cultures, the exchange between them. The characteristic of this approach is the concept on the interaction of structurally related or similar cultures. Realization of the intercultural approach to foreign languages learning requires an appropriate organization of the learning process. This is the process of intercultural learning. It means not only understanding the system of value orien- tations of another’s culture, but also reflects the orientation system of its own culture; the process of development, origin, understanding and acceptance of cultural differences. Among the means that promote the realization of the intercultural approach in the process of foreign language learn- ing, art is emphasized, in particular, music. It reflects the cultural heritage of society, transmits the atmosphere and color of the country which language is studied. Various intonations are closely associated with poetic ideas, specific visual representations, and different emotional states characteristic of each epoch, which leads to the formation of stable associ- ations. These associations, the listener will assign in the process of communicating with the musical composition. There- fore, the appeal to the musical material in the course of its study is an important factor in the formation of intercultural knowledge, the ability to intercultural communication, promotes the development of motivation for students’ learning. Using of music in the process of studying a foreign language for the formation of intercultural knowledge and ideas of students stipulates their involvement in various forms of interaction: listening to musical works of the country’s composers, the language of which is studied, folk music, singing and learning folk and modern songs in this language. This contributes to the formation of ideas about the values of another country, showing the attitude of composers to different phenomena of reality through the prism of their culture; trains for the role of cultural intermediary between native and foreign culture, who is able to successfully overcoming of intercultural misunder- standings and conflict situations.
