Journal Title: Scientia Agriculturae - Year 2015, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
The lady bird beetle (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera) is being exploited as a potent animal for the effective control of the aphids besides other animal pests that cause colossal economic losses throughout Pakistan. The research trial was conducted to determined the predatory efficiency of lady bird beetle on rose aphid (Macrosiphum rosae ). In this experiment, the feeding efficacy of two different species of lady bird beetle Propylea quattuordecimpunctata and coccinella septempunctata Lin .were checked under laboratory conditions (25±2ºC and 65±5% R.H. Feeding efficacy of coccinella septempunctata were more (16.2) as compared to Propylea quatuordecimpunctata, (9.00) after 16 hours.
