Prediction of the pull-out strength of chemical anchorsin natural stone
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 29
Abstract
The applicability of some numerical models for the prediction of the failure mechanism and of thebearing capacity of post-installed threaded rods chemically anchored in basalt, sandstone and limestone isinvestigated, as well as the reliability of theoretical formulations conceived for concrete. The numerical predictions, performed by means of engineering structural analysis software and advancednumerical codes, are compared with the results of an experimental research related to chemical anchors innatural stone. The minimum embedment depth for such fastening system is identified.

Fatigue crack propagation in turbine disks of EI698 superalloy
In-service fatigue cracking of turbine disks of EI698 superalloy is discussed based on crack growth analyses. In the bolt joint for disks to shaft connecting there is high level of stress-state, which directed to e...
Averaged strain energy density-based synthesis of crack initiation life in notched steel bars under torsional fatigue
The torsional fatigue behaviour of circumferentially notched specimens made of austenitic stainless steel, SUS316L, and carbon steel, SGV410, characterized by different notch root radii has been recently investiga...
A comparison of methods for calculating notch tip strains and stresses under multiaxial loading
Selected methods for calculating notch tip strains and stresses in elastic–plastic isotropic bodies subjected to multiaxial monotonic loading were compared. The methods use sets of equations where hypothetical not...
Estimation of fretting fatigue life using a multiaxial stress-based critical distance methodology
This work presents a methodology for life estimation of mechanical couplings subjected to fretting fatigue. In this approach, a stress-based multiaxial fatigue parameter is evaluated at a critical distance below t...
