Spray mass flux application variables of tree sprayers
Journal Title: Scientia Agriculturae - Year 2013, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
Laboratory and field investigations were conducted to study the effect of spray application parameter such as volume liquid flow rate, volume air flow rate, cross sectional area of spray jet and sprayer-tree distance on spray mass flux. Results showed that, all the sprayer parameters increased with an increase in spray mass flux. The maximum attained value of spray mass flux of 6.9kg/m2s was obtained at an air velocity of 47.3M/S arid a maximum distance of 1m away from the tree canopy boundaries. The regression analysis of the result gives coefficient of determination of 0.84, 0.99, 1.0 and 0.88 for volume liquid flow late volume air flow rate, cross sectional area of spray jet and sprayer - tree distance as respectively. The high values to unity show a good relationship between spray mass flux and the parameters.
