THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES OF PLANT ORIGIN IN DIABETES

Abstract

Diabetes is considered epidemic of XXI century. Diabetes and its complications of micro- and macrovascular are an important factor in the development of diseases of the cardiovascular system, including myocardial infarction, renal failure, severe neurological disorders, and recently more and more attention is paid to a higher incidence of cancer in diabetics. The basic form of the treatment is pharmacotherapy and behavioral therapy, inert alia proper diet. In the treatment of an important role of medical plants, that are known in folk, and conventional medicine. In the treatment of diabetes can use active ingredients from, inert alia, Galega officinalis, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Medicago sativa, Phasoleus vulgaris, Gymnema sylvestrae, Stevia rebaudiana, Cinnamomum aromaticum. Their health-promoting effects has been confirmed in a lot of experimental and epidemiological studies. Currently the research is on understanding the mechanisms of action of these substances and further possibilities of their usefulness. This is of particular importance in the context of the rapidly growing incidence of diabetes in the society.
