Neural networks and their use in analysis of economic data based on the example of electric energy sales forecast

Abstract

The paper shows neural networks being an important tool used for analysis of economic data. A historic outline has been presented along with modem ways of investigation referring to these types of tools. General characteristics and classification of neural networks have been outlined too, with particular attention paid to perceptron-based networks. The most important applications of neural methods in business and economy have been described here. An example of an efficient use of the perceptron-based network in the process of a short term forecasting in the sales of electric energy performed by local power stations has been presented as well.
