НЕВЕРБАЛЬНІ ЗАСОБИ ВИРАЖЕННЯ ОБУРЕННЯ

Abstract
У статті розглядаються невербальні засоби вираження емоційного стану обурення. Особлива увага звернена на використання мовцем, який переживає обурення, паралінгвальних, окулесичних і кінесичних компонентів комунікації. The article deals with non-verbal means of communication used to express the emotional state of indignation. In the process of speech activity a person constantly expresses his / her attitude and emotions towards the objects and phenomena of the world as well as to his / her communicative partner. In other words, a speaker gives his / her evaluation to the surrounding world. The evaluation can be carried out by verbal and non-verbal means. Nonverbal components play a leading role in expressing emotions in general and indignation in particular. Indignation involves negative evaluation of a state of affairs. It has been revealed that indignation is expressed primarily by paralinguistic, oculesic and kinesic components. Paralinguistics indicates the feelings and emotions about what is being said. Paralanguage refers to all those aspects of speech which are not directly related to «words», i.e. which are not strictly part of the verbal message. It includes tone, pitch, loudness, duration, intonation, tempo, voice quality, speaking style, speech clarity, and accent. It also encompasses giggling, laughing, whimpering, vocalized pauses, and the use of silence. Significant information is given by a person’s voice and voice patterns. The voice is one of the non-verbal channels, which is not always easy to control. The obtained results show that an indignant speaker raises his / her voice. The speech tempo becomes uneven and even a tremor in the voice can be heard. Weeping, sighing, laughter, and yawning can accompany utterances of indignation. Oculesics refers to eye movement, eye behaviour, eye related nonverbal communication, including eye contact, blinks, eyes widening, raise of the eyebrows, etc. Eyes are a window to the soul and they reflect what is going on inside of a person. They can communicate a wide range of feelings and emotions. Besides, they have a tendency to divulge information unintentionally. A speaker can use his / her eyes to show indignation. When a speaker is indignant, his / her eyes widen and flash. The way a person looks at his / her communicative partner can convey indignation as well. Kinesics refers to body movements. It includes posture, gestures, hand and head movements, facial expressions, and movements of the whole body. Facial expression is the most well-known and easily identifiable form of non-verbal communication. A single hint of emotion may flash across a person’s face before he / she is able to control it, and that is enough to decipher the true feelings. Indignant speakers thrust their heads back, raise their chins, nod and shake their heads. They can fold their arms, wave their arms about, lift up their hands, clench their fists, wag their fingers, etc.
