Non-metallic inclusions structure dimension in high quality steel with medium carbon contents
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2009, Vol 9, Issue 3
Abstract
The experimental material consisted of semi-finished products of high-grade, medium-carbon structural steel. The production process involved two melting technologies: steel melting in a 140-ton basic arc furnace with desulfurization and argon refining variants, and in a 100-ton oxygen converter. Billet samples were collected to analyze the content of non-metallic inclusions with the use of an optical microscope and a video inspection microscope. The results were processed and presented in graphic form.

Application of heat treatment and hot extrusion processes to improve mechanical properties of the AZ91 alloy
The main aim of this paper is to evaluate the effects of hot working (extrusion) and hest treatment on room temperature mechanical properties of magnesium-based AZ91 alloy. The results were compared with as-cast conditio...
Effect of Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles on Water Glass Structure
An attempt has been made to determine the effect of an addition of colloidal suspensions of the nanoparticles of magnesium oxide on the structure of water glass, which is a binder for moulding and core sands. Nanoparticl...
Effect of gas corrosion on the character of phase boundaries in Ni3Al / WC composite
In view of quite specific physico-chemical and performance properties, the composite based on an intermetallic Ni3Al compound reinforced with tungsten carbides (WC) was selected for investigations. The said composite is...
FGMs generated method SHSM
In this study, a new SHSF (Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis in Mould) process of synthesis of the functionally gradient materials (FGMs) was described. The said method enabled generating a thin, sub-surface la...
