Abstract
The literature is produced inside a social-cultural context, and it is a subject of changes. Like this, it is said the literature and society keeps strait links. According to Antonio Candido, the literature is similar to the real life, in the other words, it similar with the social reality, because, author, work and public are intrisically linked, forming a link that can’t be broken.This article aims understand O Seminarista, Rubem Fonseca’s book , he’s a contemporary Brazilian writer of literature, trying to notice Antonio Candido`s thoughts. It was analyzed in the romance the paradox abaut the overview of the public life in urban context, with the loneliness and impersonality increase caused by the social interactions of contemporary societies and in Brazil.
