Ocena skuteczności bandażowania w redukcji obrzęku limfatycznego u kobiet po mastektomii

Journal Title: Rehabilitacja w Praktyce - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

Lymphedema is caused by impaired transport of lymph in the lymphatic system. It may also be associated with cancer – usually after the removal of breast cancer. Radical surgery entails the occurrence of complications, which include lymphedema of the upper limb on the side of the operated breast. Gradually the circumference of the limb on this side increases, which causes the reduction of the limb mobility, inflammation and pain. The most effective way to treat oedema is Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT) by Madden. It was defined by Földi et al. in 1989. It is based on manual lymphatic drainage and compression of limbs, as well as the use of exercise and skin care.
