Journal Title: Wiek XIX. Rocznik Towarzystwa Literackiego im. Adama Mickiewicza - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
This review article is a discussion about a collective book edited by Joanna Kubicka and Małgorzata Litwinowicz-Droździel, titled “Practice – Utopia – Metaphor. Invention in the nineteenth century” (“Praktyka – utopia – metafora. Wynalazek w XIX Wieku”, Warszawa 2016) in terms of its content, compared to the existing literature on the subject and what it adds to the study of Polish nineteenth century. The author emphasizes the timeliness of the publication, which – as exemplified by inventiveness discourse – confirms the complexity of Polish civilization experience, but also the integrity of the “nineteenth century”.
