Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2011, Vol 61, Issue 4
Abstract
Surgical treatment of condylar fractures in patients with bruxism may be burdened with the occurrence of complications, such as impaired fracture reposition or re-creation of the blockage and pseudoarthosis. The authors present a case of therapeutic procedure after surgical repositioning of fractured condylar, in which an open bite occurred following the refraction of the condyle. The applied surgical method can also be an indication for general practitioners, what action may be taken in an adult patient with severe open bite, when they exhaust possibilities of orthodontic treatment, or there are contraindications for surgical procedures.
