Optimizing Disposal Efficiency Through Sensor-Based Automatic Dumping

Abstract

Now a days with the increase in the population of India one issue which comes as a repercussion is the generation of waste. The project involves building a smart bin using an Arduino Uno board as the microcontroller-based platform, interfaced with a GSM modem, an ultrasonic sensor and IR sensor. By being positioning on the dustbin, the ultrasonic sensor gauges the garbage height, and the Arduino is coded to indicate the remaining distance from a preset threshold as the bin accumulates waste. Additionally, an IR sensor-based level detector is implemented to detect the garbage level in the dustbin, providing redundancy and accuracy. The microcontroller processes data from both sensors, and the GSM modem allows the smart bin to send notifications or updates about its status. Enhancing efficiency through waste level detection, smart bins use sensors to optimize waste management. These bins alert authorities when full, promoting a cleaner environment, minimizing litter, and streamlining waste collection processes for smarter and more sustainable cities. Notifications, LCD, buzzer and LED’s acts as a output. They enhance efficiency by alerting authorities when bins are full. This technology promotes a cleaner environment, minimizes litter, and streamlines waste collection processes for smarter and more sustainable cities. This can also be used widely by the government in the public garbage bin system. It saves both time and manpower to the municipality. This is also very economical
