PLACE AND ROLE OF TRANSPORT LOGISTICS IN THE GENERAL LOGISTIC SYSTEM

Abstract
In the article approaches to the definition of the concept «logistical system» are considered. The analysis of the existing approaches allows to conclude that all the authors agree that the logistical system consists of separate interrelated elements that have functional connections for optimizing material flow management. The basic fundamentals that allow to single out transport logistics as a separate independent sphere have been determined. Those elements of transport logistics which determine the composition of tasks that it solves have been specified. Consideration of the main logistics processes of the enterprise: supply, production and marketing, shows that each of these processes contains the transportation process and makes it possible to conclude that this process is inherent to most logistics operations. The analysis of tasks that are solved by transport logistics allows to draw a conclusion about its role in the coordination of actions and interests of direct-acting participants of logistical processes. This coherence concerns technical, technological and economic issues. Thus, transport logistics ensures the consistency of the transport-logistic subsystem with other subsystems of the logistical system. A functional approach to the logistical system allows to identify the main functional areas that lose their isolated character during logistics operations. Among all functional areas only transport logistics is an obligatory component at any level of material flow management and in any logistical process. The main conclusion of the paper is that transport logistics is an integral part of the logistical system that provides technical, technological and economic consistency of all its subsystems and plays a decisive role in optimizing the management of material flows.
