Population Development and the Possibilities of Using Mating Disruption Technique for Control of Anarsia lineatella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) in Çanakkale Province
Journal Title: ÇOMÜ Ziraat Fakültesi Dergisi - Year 2018, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
In this study, the possibilities of using mating disruption technique and the population development of peach pest, Anarsia lineatella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) has been investigated in the years 2015–2016 in Çanakkale province. For this purpose, two orchards were selected with an area of 1 (No:2) and 2 (No:1) hectares located in Yapıldak village near city centre belonging to the native producer. In 2015 and 2016, the pheromone traps of A. lineatella were placed into both gardens in 16th of March, and the captured adults into the traps have been counted twice in a week. In 2016, after the adults were caught in the traps, on the 20th of April, to test mating disruption (MD) of A. lineatella in the orchard (No:1) of 2 ha, 3 and 2 dispensers {134 mg (67.6%) E,5 Decenly acetate + (2.9%) E,5 Decanol) were hung per tree in the edge rows and other trees; respectively. In 0.2 ha of the treated orchard was tested only MD, in the rest of the orchard was applied MD+ insecticides to pest control. In the reference orchard (No:2) of one ha insecticides treatments were applied for controlling the pest. Efficacy on the MD was evaluated to compare the fruit injury level among 1000 fruit at the time of harvest and the captured adults onto the traps in the application parcel. In the results, in 2015, during the season, the total number of adults captured onto the traps of 1st and 2nd orchards was 159 and 162; respectively, while the population fluctuation in both orchards was found similar. The first adult was captured onto the traps in the 16th of April, and four different population peaks were observed in the 18th of May, 10th of June, 15th of July and 22nd of August. In 2016, the population density of adults was low as compared to the population observed in 2015. A total of 32 adults have been captured onto the traps found in the orchard (No:2) that was without of the application of MD and 2 peaks were observed in the 19th of May and the 20th of July. In case of the parcels with MD application were counted only 6 adults onto pheromone traps. The infested fruit rates were 2.2, 2.0 and 3.6% in MD, insecticides+MD and insecticides; respectively.
