Practice Challenges and Theoretical Breakthroughs in Medical Ethics in the Context of New Medical Science
Journal Title: Medicine and Philosophy - Year 2024, Vol 45, Issue 2
Abstract
The emergence of the new medical science category on a global scale and within the Chinese context has propelled the in-depth development of medical ethics, opening new dimensions. Medical ethics, as a dynamically balanced and constantly evolving concept, is born alongside the mission of medicine. In the context of the new medical science, medical ethics faces three-dimensional challenges stemming from a focus on interests, with knowledge power and professional technology constituting the two wings. This challenge is rooted in the improvement of medical capabilities, the intervention of social capital, the professional power of doctors, and the professional discourse brought about by the integration of biotechnology. The essence of practice challenges lies in theoretical dilemmas, and solving practical problems fundamentally requires theoretical breakthroughs. It is necessary to construct a medical ethics system based on responsibility ethics as the keyword, integrating individual ethics with public ethics, and deepening common-sense morality through professional ethics.
