Predicting high school female students' mental health in Shiraz, Iran based on family process and content model

Abstract

The present study aims to predict high school female students' mental health in Shiraz, Iran based on family process and content model. Research method was correlation. 160 high school female students were selected based on multistage cluster sampling method and completed Goldberg & Hiler mental health questionnaire(1972), short form of Samani family process scale (2008), and short form of Samani family content scale. The results of Pearson correlation coefficient demonstrated that there is a significant negative correlation between family process and content and mental health score. Moreover, a significant negative correlation was found between family process and content and anxiety, depression and social functioning disorder. Furthermore, regression analysis showed that family process and content is capable of predicting mental health and subscales of mental health (depression, anxiety, and social functioning disorder).
