PROSODY OF SINCERE GRATITUDE SPEECH ACT

Abstract
The present article is an attempt to elicit and describe prosodic features of sincere gratitude speech act realization in film discourse. The perceptive and auditory analyses have been conducted. The received data have been linguistically interpreted. Our research has allowed to establish that sincere gratitude speech act is mainly pronounced with the falling nuclear tone. The phrases of argumentative gratitude are formulated with either falling or level scale. Sincere gratitude speech act is characterized by low pitch level and narrow pitch range. Moreover, it shows the tendency to slowing down the speech tempo and decreasing the loudness. All the enumerated prosodic means create the atmosphere of intimacy between the communicants.
