Proton pump - key cell element in acid related digestive disorders
Journal Title: Human & Veterinary Medicine - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
Proton pump is the final step in gastric acid secretion, its physiopathological and pharmacological importance being undeniable in acid related digestive disorders. The knowledge of the intimate mechanisms of gastric secretion and the interaction of ATP-ase (adenosine triphosphatase) with various cell proteins is essential in finding efficient and specific inhibitors in order to cure these diseases. The article proposes a synthesis of the most recent acquisitions in decoding gastric secretion mechanism, interaction between proton pump inhibitors (PPI) and the K/HATP-ase and in the main directions of studying the ATP-ase.
Clock genes, chronotypes and diseases.
Many common diseases in humans (such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes mellitus or psychiatric disorders, such as depression) seem to be linked to disruptions of circadian cycles and to clock genes variation. It is unli...

Cardiovascular event risk in relation to arterial stiffness in patients with subclinical peripheral atherosclerosis.
Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an independent predictor for general and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Peripheral atherosclerotic disease is more frequently associated with systolic hypertension, therefore...
