REFLECTION ON EDUCATION IN THE PERSONALISTIC PERSPECTIVE

Journal Title: Educational Psychology - Year 2012, Vol 44, Issue 1

Abstract

Summary: The article presents a view, inspired by personalistic philosophy and psychology, according to which the main purpose of education is to prepare people for moral responsibility – for the welfare of another human being, for the welfare of the community and thus for the welfare of oneself. The educator’s role is defined with spiritual guidance terms – guidance that consists in using oneself as an example to show the sense and appeal of following higher values, and in organizing the educational space so that it favors readiness for respecting this type of values, i.e. leading a life of virtue.
