RESEAUX ONOMASTIQUES ET EMPREINTE IDENTITAIRE

Journal Title: Diversité et identité culturelle en Europe (DICE) - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 15

Abstract

A large number of translation difficulties are generated by cultural specificity elements that are furthermore highlighted by the translation process. One of these elements is proper names of all kinds, true cultural landmarks and markers. Indeed, proper names create in the text an onomastic identity network that the translator must recreate in the target language, in one way or another. The aim of this article is to compare the onomastic networks identified in a bilingual corpus (Romanian-French) of fairy tales in order to establish whether the meaning in the target language is different from that in the source text and, if so, to what degree and in what way.
