RETURNED HISTORICAL GODONYMS IN KHERSON AS A RESULT OF DECOMMUNIZATION LAWS

Abstract
The article shows an actual question of modern language Ukrainian policy – implementation of decommunization laws, which contributed to the displacement of Soviet postulates, ideology, symbols etc. The authors analyze returned historical godonyms in Kherson as the largest group among renamed urban objects. The authors underline that state language Ukrainian policy is reported to spreading Ukrainian language as a public one. The main approach of language policy is the adoption process, connected with decommunization laws. This laws are the basis for eradication of bilingualism on the territory of our state. Much attention is given to the process of renaming urban toponymic objects such as streets, prospectuses, passes, parks, roads etc. The author notices that in the year 2016 104 urban toponymic objects were renamed which includes 80 streets, 14 passes, 4 parks, 2 areas, 2 passages, 1 prospectus and 1 highway. The author subdivides renamed objects into 6 thematic groups: 1) notions, connected with historical events (3%); 2) notions, connected with significant persons of Kherson region (23%); 3) notions, connected with significant persons of Ukraine and foreign countries (16%); 4) notions, connected with certain urban objects (3%); 5) notions, connected with returned historical denominations (53%); 6) mis-shapen notions (2%). The researchers thoroughly consider every thematic group, analyse its origin and peculiarity, refer to scientists works. The authors come to the conclusion that renamed urban toponymic objects promote to perpetuation of historical memory and help to embed language Ukrainian policy.
