REVIEW OF KSHARA KALPANA W.S.R TO “RASATARANGINI”

Abstract
Rasatarangini written by Acharya Shri Sadananda Sharma in 19th is one of the important book in the field of Ayurveda specially in the field of Rasashastra. No separate chapter is available in Rasa Granthas regarding Kshara Kalpana except Rasatarangini. KsharaKalpana is the process of preparation of Kshara by using the ash of plants. Kshara mainly posess Katu rasa, Tikshna guna, and Ushna virya. Kshara Kalpana is widely mentioned in the ayurvedic classics for the management of various anorectal disorders, Mutrakrichha and Mutrashmari. Its method of preparation are explained in various classics with their unique opinion. As Rasatarangini is one of the practical text of today era for the preparation of various formulations. So here in present study an attempt was done to collect literature regarding Kshara Kalpana by reviewing Rasatarangini which can be useful in highlighting KsharaKalpana and its therapeutic uses.
