Risk and prevalence of thyroid disorder among Indian population: A meta-analysis

Abstract

Thyroid disorders are common in India population. This study aimed at synthesized population based studies on prevalence of thyroid diseases in India. General database and subject’s specific database were searched for primary studies. Manuscript of appropriate studies was retrieved. Based on some criteria, only eligible studies were included in this study. Combined estimate and confidence interval of the result were obtained by Mata analysis. The prevalence of thyroid diseases was 18.75% and with the 95 % confidence interval of (CI: 21.20%-16.32%). This study showed that prevalence of thyroid diseases is high in India. There is need to developed strategies to prevent, treat and control the thyroid diseases effectively in India
