SaaS model as a new concept of IT outsourcing
Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2012, Vol 11, Issue 3
Abstract
In this article the new form of IT outsourcing based on the accessing of software on the internet has been presented (SaaS – Software as a Service). The owner of software is rendering the service via a network and clients can use the defined application with developing their own IT structure and installing the software on their own hardware. The main aspect of the service is to ensure data security and the development of software by the supplier as well as technical support in the scope of used applications. For a few years now, the model has been dynamically developed all over the world. However, academic researchers (both domestic and international) in this area are rather limited. The main sources of information regarding this subject are opinions, discussions and business reports available on the network. The article focuses on business and organizational aspects. The origin of the concept and its development in Poland and other countries has been presented. Advantages and limitations of the model from the perspective of the client and the supplier have been described.
