SOCIAL-PEDAGOGICAL TARGETING IN THE IDEAS OF THE LEADING DEMOCRATS OF THE XIX - XX CENTURIES FOR THE PURPOSES OF KATERINOSLAVSCHINA

Abstract
The article attempts to analyze socioeconomic processes in the Russian Empire and Ukraine in particular during the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A brief analysis of the degree of research on the development of the national education of Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries is being made. The problem of formation of a new social environment, the center of which should become a common public school, raises. There are a number of basic questions of social and pedagogical goal-setting, put forward by prominent pedagogues-democrats of the post-reform period. With the help of the analysis of the socio-pedagogical activity of the outstanding teachers of Ekaterinoslavs'kyi (M. Korfa, M. Pirohov, K. Ushinskyi, V. Vasilchenko, B. Hrinchenko, Y. Chepihi, S. Cherkasenko), the general concept of social and pedagogical purpose-setting for the education of the nation is determined. It was clarified that the main principles for the formation of the pedagogical purpose of the public education of the mentioned period were the connection of the school with life, the continuity of the public elementary school and general secondary education, the nationality in education, and the harmonious combination of mental and physical labor. A separate issue that follows from the analysis of pedagogical works and the activities of historical personalities is the need to prepare a teacher of a popular school whose main competences should be communication in his native language, general cultural literacy, as well as social and civil competencies that will enable the teacher to become a guide to education for the broad mass of people.
