Journal Title: Topiarius. Studia krajobrazowe - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 5
Abstract
Solid waste collection site is an important element in the development of housing, though often overlooked as an unnecessary element of plot development. In many cases, these sites are elements shaping small architecture, and undoubtedly they can an important component creating some forms of social communication in housing estates. Due to the analysis of the problems in development of residential housing estates, the appropriate research methodology seems to be a key. This enables to analyze this, somehow trivial, issue, but still a functionally important and legally required element of equipment of every housing estate. The analysis of the location of the waste collection sites and their potential impact on the social fabric is important here. It seems that the thoughtful creation and location of solid waste collection sites has specific influence on the social structure. According to Polish standards and regulation regarding the location of such facilities, attention is paid only to the fact if they are located in appropriate and normative distances from windows and borders of building plots. It is not discussed how the location of waste collection sites affects the social behavior and how huge is influence inconvenient, utilitarian devices on the inter-neighbour communication.
