STRIKES OF THE VOLYN REGION MENIRS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ALL-UNION MINING STRIKE MOVEMENT OF 1989–1991

Abstract
The article deals with the 1989–1991 strikes of Volyn region miners on the background of the All-Union Mining Strike Movement. The reasons of the Novovolynsk miners’ strikes, as well as their consequences for the Ukrainian SSR economy, are described. The role and place of miners’ strike movement in the political life of the time are determined. The changes of socio-political outlook of the miners of the Lviv-Volyn Basin during the struggle of Ukrainians for their independence are highlighted. On the basis of historical sources and historiography the estimation and the analysis of the main demands of the striking miners of Novovolynsk mine are given.
