Study of aerosol deposition in 90° bend turbulent flow using Lagrangian RANS approach
Journal Title: Recueil de mécanique - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
This work presents a numerical study of turbulent flow of a gas loaded with particles with various diameters in a 90° bend. This study can be an effective way to predict the dispersion and deposition of aerosol in transportation and distribution gaz networks. The dynamics of flow is calculated using a statistical technique of Reynolds averaged Navier-Stocks equations (RANS). For the computation an open-source code namely Code_Saturne (Archambeau et al. [1]) is used and the Reynolds number Re = 10.000. The results of this study using the stochastic model, classifies particles into three categories (small, intermediate and large), and also show a good agreement with experimental values obtained by Pui et al. [2] and with the numerical data of Breuer et al. [3], except for the small Stokes numbers.

The highlighting of an internal combustion engine piston ring radial oscillations
This paper deals with the definition of the lube-oil film thickness in the piston ring cylinder liner junction of an internal combustion engine. At first, a mathematical model for the estimation of the film thickness is...
Efficiency analysis of solar chimney power plant in Tissemsilt city
The present work shows a study of energetic efficiency of a solar chimney power plant (SCPP) destinated for electrical power production in Tissemsilt region. A mathematical modeling of the installation based on PERRIN Br...
Thermodynamic study and analysis of thermohydraulic cycle for power generation
This paper is devoted to the study and analysis of the thermohydraulic process used for power generation from low potential heat sinks as thermal-solar and geothermal resources. The machine studied operates according to...
Contribution to the study of the thermal effect – application to a tilting pad thrust bearing
This paper deals with one of the most important phenomena occurring in tilting pad thrust bearings. This is the thermal phenomenon. Indeed, the viscosity of the lubricants is very dependent on film temperature, hence th...
The deformation modes of copper alloys under indenter
The instrumented indentation test has been widely used and studied because of the ease it provides for estimating the mechanical properties of materials from the force-displacement curve for miniature material volumes. D...
