STUDY OF THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKERS’ WORKING CONDITIONS IMPROVEMENT THROUGH THE ACTIVATED SLUDGE PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract

Purpose. To investigate the working conditions of sewage treatment workers. To suggest rationalization of sludge beds operation by creating utilization of activated sludge and household waste. Methods. Methods of disposal and recycling of the active sludge included the process of methane fermentation in mesophilic mode have been used. The biogas that's produced in the methane fermentation process has been collected in special gas-collectors. After reaching the desired temperature, mesophilic regime, measurements of the volume allocated to biogas have been carried out. Results. The study has established the dependence of the process of removing phosphates from waste water adding calcium-containing sludge from the solution temperature. The number of recovered phosphates in terms of phosphorus from waste water after four hours of processing household waste at 280 K was 0.78 mg / dm3, at 285 K - 1,60 mg / dm3, respectively, and 290 K to 1.90 mg / dm3. When the temperature of the waste water, the process occurs in the diffusion region. Found that from a mixture of industrial and domestic wastes and active sludge, a calcium sludge at a ratio of 50%:50% has been observed in 2 times more biogas yield than the mixture of only household wastes. Originality. For the first time the activated sludge recycling technology has been developed with addition of calcium-containing sludge (28 mg/dm3) for one minute dispersion and the subsequent loading of the mixture into the digester, where the digestion in mesophilic mode at a ratio 1:1 and the duration of fermentation 14 days. Practical value. The technology helps to streamline the performance of treatment plants and simultaneously improve working conditions, reduce risks of morbidity from exposure to vapors of water containing impurities Fortov, nitrogen, methane.
