Synchronous ipsilateral renal tumor, clear cell carcinoma and urothelial carcinoma: case report

Abstract

The renal cell tumor represents 1% of the neoplasias in the adult and from 90% to 95% of the malignant renal neoplasias. The renal cell tumors are a heterogenic group, with distinctive histopathology, genetic and clinic presentation. The main characteristic of the tumors are a high grade malignity being the clear cell carcinoma the most common of the group with a 60%. The Transitional cell carcinoma has an incidence of 7% in the population located mainly in urinary bladder (90%), renal pelvis (8%) and urether o urethra (2%). We present a new a case of simultaneous appearance of renal cell carcinoma and transitional carcinoma on a male patient 69 years old in whom a radical nefrectomy was perform with the diagnose of left renal tumor. The histopathology study reported a synchronic ipsilateral tumor, constituted by a renal cell carcinoma, clear cell type and a high grade transitional cell carcinoma.
