Тactical mistakes in investigative activities: their types and classification

Abstract
The article is devoted to the problems of tactical mistakes in investigative activities. Various approaches regarding the determination of their classification groups have been analyzed. It’s been determined that this differentiation can be based on spheres where the tactical mistakes were manifested (objective factors): mistakes made during the investigation, mistakes made during the investigative (search) activities; mistakes related to the use of tactical and forensic means; typical mistakes for specific investigative (search) activities or tactical operation. The next classification group is directly related to the subject of tactical mistake, in particular, to its psychological characteristics, analytical abilities and the reasons for its tactical decisions, the level of its experience, professionalism and knowledge. Along with these criteria, the important basis for classification of tactical mistakes in investigative activities is the kind and the nature of the negative effects. These negative effects can include the loss of evidence-based information and its sources, the impossibility of its further using in pre-trial procedure or in court, the omission of tactically favorable moment of the development of investigative situation; the creation of conflict situation, the situation of tactical risk; the reduction or termination of the psychological impact of physical evidence etc.
