Technology in the service of ear training at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź

Abstract
Real progress made in the field of recording and sound synthesis technology in the 20th century has significantly changed the range of methodological solutions available to a music teacher. The article discusses the manners of applying these technological advances while teaching the “ear training” subject in music schools. In particular, it demonstrates the achievements of Prof. Feliks Flis, the author of an audiovisual method of teaching the rudiments of music and the founder of the Comprehensive Music Subjects Laboratory, operating at the Academy of Music in Łódź over the last years of the 20th century. It also provides some information on the origins and equipment of the Ear Training Laboratory, functioning on the premises of the Regional Center of Culture, Education and Music Documentation in Łódź since 2015.
