TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF THE DIELECTRIC LOSS FACTOR OF OIL-IMPREGNATED CONDENSER INSULATION FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF HIGH-VOLTAGE APPARATUS IN THE ONLINE MODE

Abstract

Purpose. To assess the possibility of using of temperature dependences of the basic diagnostic parameters of main insulation of apparatus with condenser oil impregnated paper insulation during estimation of their technical state, to develop a mathematical model for online monitoring systems under the operating voltage. Methodology. We have applied the experimental observations with subsequent statistical processing of data, approximation of temperature dependences, and also calculation of correlation relationships. Experimental observations carried out by the method of online monitoring under the operating voltage ("online") of a group of 17 oil-filled 330 kV bushings, the observation period from 12 to 20 months, the insulation temperature range –20 ... +33 °С. Results. The research made it possible to develop an improved mathematical model for evaluating the technical state of apparatus with condenser oil impregnated paper insulation, first of all bushings and instrument current transformers, which makes it possible to more accurately detect defects in the insulation of apparatuses. Originality. The improved model was developed for calculating the temperature coefficient for insulation with a low moisture content (0.5 %) of solid insulation in the operating temperature range, which was not taken into account in previous researchers. The research justify the futility of temperature reduction of the value of the insulation power loss factor, since the function of the temperature dependence for apparatus with hidden defects can differ significantly from the formula used for such a reduction, and for zero defects, the value given to 20°C will practically not be different from the one obtained at operating temperature. Therefore, we recommended that to refrain from temperature reduction of the insulation power loss factor. Practical value. This model is used in microprocessor-based automated monitoring systems to increase the probability of detecting defects in the main insulation of high voltage apparatus with OIP insulation.
