Abstract
In the article considers one of the most significant novel motif of Ukrainian writer E. Pashkovsky “The Abyss” – the indifference of society to suicide. Based on the novel “Closed-Chamber” suicidal act, as a protest against the unbearable character of existence is analyzed.
