Journal Title: Матеріали і дослідження з археології Прикарпаття і Волині - Year 2017, Vol 21, Issue
Abstract
In this paper I analyze the characteristics of the integration of women in archaeological scientific community in the second half of XIXth and the 30s of XXth centuries, and also I consider the constructing professional identity of female-archaeologists on the example of life and career Y. Abaza, G. Turchaninova, P. Uvarova, K. Skarzhynskoyi, A.Myklashevsky, K. Melnyk-Antonovich, A. Skrylenko, I. Fabricius, N. Polonskaya-Vasilenko, V. Kozlovsky, M. Vyazmitinoyi. Theoretical and methodological basis of the study is the canadian psychologist J. Marcia’s concept of ego-identity statuses, is based on E. Erikson’s theory of identity. It is basised on two criteria (profession and ideology). J. Marcia has identified and described four identity statuses: Identity Diffusion, Foreclosure Identity, “Moratorium”, Identity Achievement. Applying the concept of J. Marcia’sego-identity combined with results from R. Josselson provided an opportunity to highlight issues of motivation, professionalidentity of female-archaeologists and construction of their own identity, and to outline ways of entering the archaeological scientific community.
