THE DESIGN OF WOODEN CHURCHES ROOF; AN EMPIRICAL SOLUTION AGAINST WIND AND RAIN DAMAGES. CASE STUDY: BUDEŞTI-JOSANI, MARAMUREŞ COUNTY, ROMANIA
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2011, Vol 56, Issue 1
Abstract
In Maramureş County, Romania, there are eight wooden churches inscribed on the World Heritage List. The special shape of the roof permits the fast flowing down of the rain water and the sliding of the snow. The churches in Maramureş County are built, generally, on the top of the hills directly exposed to weathering. Wind effects on structures can be conveniently separated into background and resonant components. The leaking velocity of the rain water and snow is calculated taking into account the shape of the roof and the tribological behavior of the wood.

INVESTIGATION OF THE ELASTOPLASTIC BEHAVIOR OF FCC POLYCRYTALS USING A FFT NUMERICAL SCHEME
This work is devoted to the study of the effective mechanical response and strain and stress field fluctuations in FCC untextured polycrystals using a full-field numerical approach for a crystalline rate-independent elas...
EVOLUTION AS PHYSICS
Thermodynamics today is the physics domain in which three previously selfstanding lines of thinking merged to cover the broadest range of natural phenomena to date. The three lines were work-heat-design, or mechanics-cal...
THE POTENTIAL OF THE 3-UPU TOPOLOGY FOR TRANSLATIONAL PARALLEL MANIPULATORS AND A PROCEDURE TO SELECT THE BEST ARCHITECTURE FOR A GIVEN TASK
The 3-UPU three degrees of freedom fully parallel manipulator, where U and P are for universal and prismatic pair respectively, is a very well known manipulator that can provide the platform with three degrees of freedom...
AN INTRODUCTION TO DSmT. FIRST PART
The management and combination of uncertain, imprecise, fuzzy and even paradoxical or highly conflicting sources of information has always been, and still remains today, of primal importance for the development of reliab...
ON THE POST-EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE DETECTION OF STRUCTURES
The paper introduces an alternative method for evaluation the postearthquake damage in the multidegree of freedom structures with viscous and hysteretic behavior. Assuming damage as a scalar variable is very simplistic....
