The Distance Covered by Turkey in Science and Technology until Today

Abstract

In this study, it is considered the development of science and technology from Ottoman’s time to present. In essentially, the development of scientific and technological politics since the establishment of Republic of Turkey in 1923 (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti) has been traced. The developments of science and technology are handled with regard to “science production”, “science politics” and “diffusion of science”. While it is looked at the last short period of Ottoman, the consideration of Republic has been done by classifying its generations. This article examines “old” and “new” conceptions with regard to consequences, which come out from “science” and evaluates that consequences.
