THE EFFECT OF HEAT TREATMENT ON THE EROSIVE WEAR OF STEEL 40Cr4

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 243, Issue 3

Abstract

The results of studies on the effect of heat treatment on working steel 40Cr4 on erosion wear and tear were presented. The study involved raw, hardened, and hardened and tempered steels. Wear resistance were tested using abrasive blast set at different angles of incidence of the abrasive. The obtained results showed that the highest resistance to wear blast is characterised by samples of heat-treated steel (quenching). They were the hardest and the highest tensile strength.
