THE EFFECT OF MONOSACCHARIDES CONTAINING GLUCOSE AND GALACTOSE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF BRADYRHIZOBIUM JAPONICUM IN VITRO

Abstract

The effect of monosaccharides containing of glucose and galactose (glucose, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, galactose, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine) which are the major part of exopolysaccharides of Bradyrhizobium japonicum 634b in micromolar concentration on the development of rhizobial culture in vitro was investigated. It was shown that the carbohydrates galactose group had essential positive signaling respecting to soybean rhizobia with maximum effect of N-acetyl-D-galactosamine. The activity of aminosugars as regulatory substances was higer as compared to hexoses activity. This was confirmed by the results of evaluation of bacterial growth in terms of the number of viable cells, generation time of culture and speed of rhizobial reproduction.
