Journal Title: International Journal of Applied Exercise Physiology - Year 2019, Vol 8, Issue 1

Abstract

Introduction: The development of special performance of athletes is a prerequisite for high-quality game. One of the means to improve the special performance of athletes in volleyball may be the use of fitness aerobics. It remains an open question whether there are differences in the effects of fitness aerobics on boys and girls who play volleyball. Objective: to compare the impact of the use of fitness aerobics on the indicators of special performance and recovery of athletes - girls and boys involved in volleyball. Methods: Athletes involved in volleyball in the youth club of physical culture “Youth”, Kharkiv region, in the amount of 30 boys and 30 girls (aged 16-17 years) took part in the study. The training process of young athletes was built according to the standard program. Athletes trained 5 times a week for 2 hours. All training included the technical and physical training of volleyball players. However, one workout per week was devoted exclusively to the development of special performance and recovery processes. Athletes engaged in fitness with aerobics with a fitness trainer. Duration of fitness aerobics was 45 minutes. Testing athletes was carried out at the beginning of the experiment and after 9 months of training. Results: The developed method has a positive effect on both girls and boys. As a result of the use of fitness with aerobic elements in the training process of volleyball players 16-17 years old, the level of functional capabilities and indicators of physical fitness has significantly increased (p <0.05). Under the influence of the developed methodology, the increase in working capacity and recovery indicators for girls is more pronounced in comparison with boys (p<0.05). Conclusion: Fitness exercises with elements of aerobics in combination with music are complex means for increasing the special performance and improving the recovery processes of young volleyball players. In the training process of volleyball players, the use of fitness aerobics for girls is more effective compared to the boys.
