The life, work and public activities of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and Elena Maróthy-Šoltésová and their influence on the development of social work

Abstract
Norwegian writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832-1910) and Slovak writer Elena Maróthy-Šoltésová (1855-1939) were similar figures. The life and work of these (not only) national personalities is an important source for social work educa-tion. We try to point out the importance of Elena Maróthy-Šoltésová and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson in the development of social work based on their life, and literary and public activities. Through these features Elena Maróthy-Šoltésová and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson influenced the development of social work in Slo-vakia and Norway. They should always remain a part of social work education.
