THE PROBLEM OF MENTALITY IN HISTORICAL RETROSPECTIVE

Abstract
This article presents the process of creating and formation of philosopho-legal category of “mentality”. It analyses the notion “national character”, “national spirit”, that were used by philosophers and preceded the establishment of the notion “mentality”. It finds out the contribution of Ukrainian scientists in solving the problem of Ukrainian people’s mentality.
