THE PROBLEM OF REFORMATION OF DOMESTIC SCHOOL CONTENT IN THE PRISM OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHING PERIODICALS

Abstract
The Central Committee of the CPSU and the USSR Council of Ministers «On strengthening communication between school life and further development of public education in the USSR» (1958) included the restructuring of secondary school: the introduction of compulsory eight- year education; transforming 10-years secondary schools to11-years secondary school; creation a basis for getting by school students one of the popularworking professions. Strategic direction of the school was identified as strengthening communication with the school production and education with productive labor. New curricula and eight secondary schools had to provide industrialcorrelation between classes which required great mental strain and various practical classes and productive labor. Changes in the content of secondary school were highlighted by the authors of publications in educational periodicals. Special attention was given to the connection between general subjects and life, ensuring the availability of elements of general knowledge in professional and Polytechnic subjects, the the best workload, the duration of the school year, rotation of work and rest. Widely disscussed the selection criteria of educational content, its scope, accessibility and eliminate congestion programs, match of forms and methods of studying new content etc. Despite the efforts of the curriculum creators, textbook authors, trainers, it was impossible to implement the principle of combining education with productive labor in the learning process without proper justification and theoretical material base. The most discussed problems in the press were problems ofconnection between general subjects and life, providing elements of general knowledge and professional and polytechnic subjectes, determining the optimal training load, acceleration methods. Though were planned major changes in the structure of humanitiesб their problems were not raised. Out of focuswas remained the question of teaching of History of the Soviet Union and History of USSR, which was supposed to be in the curriculum.
