THE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH THE FIRST TURKISH FEMALE NOVELIST FATMA ALİYE LIVED

Abstract
Fatma Aliye, who was born as the daughter of Ahmed Cevdet Pasha in the second half of the 19th century, was raised by a versatile and well-informed father and had entered the literary world with the support of Ahmet Mithat Efendi at a very early age. She reached a wide reputation as a first Turkish female writer and made important conrtributions to the Ottoman social life with her thoughts and works. She pioneered many innovations during the transition from the empire to the republic. Therefore, her growing conditions are very closely related to the changes and developments in our social life in the recent period.
