The Structure and Substantive Content of the Concept YOUTH

Abstract
The object of our research is the concept YOUTH, and the subject is identification and description of its nuclear and peripheral features. The purpose of the article is to determine the structure and content of the semantic concept based on the materials of lexicographical sources. Dedicated component units represent nuclear signs or intentional of the concept. Peripheral signs (implicational), representing "peripheral field of the concept", we will examine on the material of fiction discourse that will make further prospects of our study. From the social point of view the concept YOUTH was also analyzed. So in determining the age limits of the concept YOUTH the widespread view was taken into consideration: youth (late childhood) is the time when the human body ends physiological and mental processes associated with puberty (interval of 12 to 16 years) and a number of social circumstances, and the end of youth is a time when a young person comes into full adult provision, which also meets a number of conditions. From the linguistic point of view concept YOUTH is presented in lexicographical sources mainly with registered units (nouns and adjectives) and substantive phrases. The concept YOUTH has adjectival character and lexeme young is the "ancestor" of the concept YOUTH in the English language. Substantiated lexeme youth in this case does not constitute the center of the semantic structure of the concept YOUTH, as its semantic image is multifaceted: it nominates a period itself, a person, as well as group of people at this age. In addition, lexeme youth in either case is determined via adjective young. The concept is based on prototypical meaning of adjectives, namely, the meaning of the signs, properties.
