Theoretical aspect of inclusive education and its implementation: the U.S. experience

Abstract
The article explores some theoretical aspects of inclusive education and its implementation at the school level. The author gives the definitions for inclusion, integration and segregation as historical concepts of education and perception of persons with disabilities; compares the medical and social models of disability as essential factors for educational inclusion; describes the U.S. approaches in inclusive education for students with disabilities as well as the practical ways for their implementation at the school level. The author’s focus is on the comparative analysis of Ukrainian and American educational systems, and clames are evidenced by theoretical and empirical data, that had been obtained during the ADA Anniversary Scholarship Program on Inclusive Education (29 Apr. – 8 Jun. 2017) in Minneapolis and St. Paul’s educational settings.
