Theory of activity as a basis for the study of the use of information and communication technologies by teachers of biology and natural history on the example of the Sumy region

Abstract

Adopting the theory of activity as a theoretical basis makes it possible to get acquainted with the process of using information and communication technologies (ICT) by teachers of biology and natural history, and to understand how they use ICT in their classes. In addition, the application of the theory of activity in educational practice can contribute to the technological creativity and cooperation of teachers with each other. A number of researchers used this theory to understand the processes by which activity is formed according to its different levels of contexts in the systems of activity. Most literary sources point to the need for biology and nature scientists to understand how the theory of activity can be related to the use of ICT in the classroom. The theory of activity can be used to study technological issues in the process of integrating ICT at the class level. In our study, we established the seven components of the activity theory model that are useful for teachers of biology and the study of nature using ICT in lessons in terms of how teachers share resources and the like.
